Need advice for Copying my old reel to reel piano recital tape using Quicktime with my late 2006 iMac OS X 10.7.5 , LION.

If you have experience transferring your own performances  from a 1950s tape deck to a late 2006 iMac running Lion, I would appreciate hearing from you!.

I need advice in order to finish Copying my old 1950 reel to reel tape of my piano recital to my late 2006 iMac OS X 10.7.5 with LION, using Quicktime.  I found my QuickTime Player 10.1 in Applications and have successfully created an .aifc file on my iMac and have labeled it “Audio Recording Test”. 

     I’m not sure if I should be using the QuickTime Player Pro version X instead. 

Please advise how to go about completing this project.   Thank you.
