Quicktime 7 just froze on me during an audio recording. It was recording – or seemed to be – for half hour or more. The audio meter showed green as people spoke and the file size counter kept going up. But when it came time to click the STOP button, it did not respond. Nothing could take it out of record. I tries every key combination. I checked that it hadn’t crashed – the only way I know how – with Activity Monitor.
All this time the AUDIO.MOV file registered zero bytes. Either the audio was all in RAM or it was in a temp file somewhere.
In the end I shut down the Mac with the power button. Now I’m looking at the hard drive from another Mac via Target Disk mode. Hoping that there’s a temp file somewhere that I can try to recover.
Anyone out there know whether there’s any hope? Is there a temp file and if so, where would it be?
